$12M Bridge Work To Close Portions Of Route 280: Here's Where Drivers heading across the Passaic River on Route 280 between Morris and Essex counties should expect overnight delays next week as a major $12 million construction project gets underway, officials said. Beginning 10 p.m. Monday, July 21, through 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, crews will close lanes in both directions on I-280 between East Hanover and Roseland. Nightly closures will continue through Thursday, July 24, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said. At least one lane will remain open in each direction. Man Dies After Falling Into Water Near Route 35 Bridge: Belmar PD A person was pronounced dead after they fell into the water near the Highway 35 Bridge in Monmouth County on Thursday, Feb. 27, authorities said. At 9 p.m., officers  received a report of a subject in the water near the Highway 35 bridge, Belmar police said. Upon arrival, patrol officers immediately began searching the area under the bridge on the north side of the Belmar Marina, police said.
