South Jersey Man Charged With Murder In 22-Year-Old's Killing, Prosecutors Say
A Vineland man was accused of killing a Whitesboro man in Woodbine, authorities said. Hakeem Denby, 34, was given charges for murder and several weapons offenses, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said in a news release on Monday, Nov. 4. Four people were arrested after an elderly woman was "brutally attacked" and had her purse stolen at a Somers Point supermarket, authorities said. A Cape May County corrections officer will spend more than a quarter-century in prison for sexually assaulting a girl younger than 13 years old, authorities said. Jonathan Perez, 35, of Woodbine, was sentenced on Thursday, Aug. 8 to 30 years in state prison, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said in a news release. West Nile, EEE Detected In Eight Mosquito Groups In South Jersey
Cape May County leaders are issuing a warning after eight mosquito groups tested positive for West Nile virus and eastern equine encephalitis. Seven mosquito collections tested positive for West Nile and EEE was detected in another during June and July, the Cape May County Department of Health said in a news release on Monday, July 22.
