'A Significant Milestone': State-Of-The-Art Veterans Medical Clinic Opening In Toms River
A new medical clinic is about to open for Ocean County veterans, officials said. The new Department of Veterans Affairs community-based outpatient clinic in Toms River will open on Tuesday, Oct. 22, the VA said in a news release on Thursday, Oct. 9. The center is located at 1051 Hooper Avenue. The state-of-the-art facility will replace the James J. Howard Veterans' Outpatient Clinic in Brick Township, which will close on Monday, Oct. 21. A highly decorated Navy veteran from New Jersey will be buried with military honors after her sudden death in Florida, according to an obituary published by Brenna Funeral Home. A lifelong Trenton resident most recently of Tampa, FL, Briana Lee "Beezy" Navarreto died on Saturday, July 6, her obituary said. She was 27 years old. A Rotary Club's American flag display — a tribute to local veterans — was vandalized earlier this week in Camden County, 6abc.com reports. A total of five flags of the 100-flag display were burned or torn from their 7-foot-tall poles on Monday, June 24, the outlet said. Atlantic City unveiled a new World War II memorial in honor of a city native who was an Army medic. The city held a dedication ceremony for the Bernie Friedenberg World War II Memorial on Thursday, June 6.
