Newark Murder Suspect Who Had New Trial Due To Improper Witness Testimony Convicted Again A 36-year-old Newark man has been convicted of murder for a 2018 homicide in Newark after his initial conviction was reversed in 2022, authorities said. Hassan Todd was found guilty in the shooting death Elijah Roberts, which occurred on Sept. 22, 2018 on Avon Ave. in Newark, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II said. Elizabeth Man Gets 20 Years For Fatal Shooting: Prosecutor A 38-year-old Elizabeth man was sentenced to 20 years in state prison on Friday, May 24, for killing a man in December 2021, authorities said. On Dec. 16, 2021, police responded to Second Street and Bond Street and found Shamar Brown, a 34-year-old Elizabeth man with a fatal gunshot wound, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca said. Deshon Fleming was sentenced after being convicted of aggravated manslaughter, authorities said.
