Stella was struck by the vehicle in Hackensack on Oct. 13 and taken to Oradell Animal Hospital, where she was treated for broken ribs and a fractured pelvis.

Stella has been transferred to the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro, where officials said she needs between four and six more weeks of recovery time before she can be adopted out.

Rescuers aren't sure why she was on the highway or who her family was.

Little Stella captured hearts on social media, with dozens of animal lovers commenting on the veterinary hospital's post, which had been shared 1.4K times as of Saturday, Oct. 26.

Some speculated a family dumped her while others prayed for a swift recovery.

Once Stella is ready for adoption, details on how to apply will be published on Daily Voice.

In the meantime, there are plenty of other animals at the Bergen County Animal Shelter who need forever families. Click here to see them.
