Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck Crossing Elizabeth Street A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Elizabeth Thursday, Sept. 17, city officials said. The driver was heading south on Spring Street with a green light at Bond Street when the pedestrian began crossing Spring Street eastbound from Bond Street and was struck, city spokeswoman Ruby Contreras said. The crash initially appeared to be a hit-and-run, but the driver pulled over at Spring Street and East Grand Street and approached police, Contreras said. The pedestrian was taken to Trinitas Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, according to Contreras.
