East Orange Man Gets Four+ Years For Stealing Checks From Mail: Feds A 23-year-old East Orange man was sentenced to more than four years in prison on Tuesday, Oct. 1, after admitting to stealing checks from the mail, authorities said. From January 2020 to March 2022, Baba Diakite, Nasir Johnson and others conspired to steal checks from the mail in communities across New Jersey, US Attorney Philip Sellinger said.
