A 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed and a 49-year-old dirt bike operator was seriously injured in a crash Sunday, Sept. 8 on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River, authorities said. Antonio Caprara, 26, of Beachwood, was heading south on the right shoulder while Lenny Ritorto, of Toms River, was heading south on the acceleration lane from the Exit 81 entrance ramp when the two collided near milepost 81.7 around 1 p.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. An Asbury Park man was indicted in a deadly triple shooting at a Toms River hookah lounge nearly two years ago, authorities said. A grand jury indicted 24-year-old Eric Manzanares on Wednesday, Aug. 21, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release. He was charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Sebastian Rivera is going down in Rutgers University history. The Toms River native, who finished his final Scarlet Knight season as a grad student with a 30-1 record, became the university's first grappler to medal at the Olympic games. A Toms River police officer is retiring after more than a decade in public service. Officer Brittany Catalano has retired from the Toms River Police Department, the township's Policemen's Benevolent Association (PBA) chapter said in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Aug. 7. Authorities have identified the Old Bridge man who drowned when his kayak capsized in Jackson Township. Search and rescue divers found the body of 29-year-old John Pereira in Prospertown Lake on Sunday, Aug. 4, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release. He was first reported missing at around 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. Witnesses told Jackson Township police that Pereira was not wearing a life preserver and they believed he drowned. Four people were arrested after they were accused of having heroin, crack cocaine, and ghost gun parts in an Atlantic City motel room, authorities said. Atlantic City police executed a drug search warrant at the motel on the 3000 block of Pacific Avenue on Wednesday, July 24, the department said in a news release.
