A Mays Landing man was remembered as a hero after dying while saving two children from drowning in the Great Egg Harbor River, according to a fundraising campaign. A GoFundMe page said Pablo Hernandez Cruz died at Weymouth Furnace County Park in Hamilton Township on Wednesday, July 17. He was 49 years old, 6abc Action News reported. A massive fire ripped through two apartments in downtown Atlantic City, injuring nine people and displacing more than six dozen residents, many of whom were international students, officials said. The five-alarm blaze on the first block of South Georgia Avenue started at around 7:50 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, city fire Chief Scott Evans said. The fire broke out at about 1 a.m. Friday, July 5 on the 1000 Block of Lindberg Drive near Delsea Drive in Deptford, according to Union Fire Co. #1. A New Jersey woman was killed in upstate New York over the weekend when a tree fell on her camper during fierce thunderstorms that ripped through the region, authorities said. A Pleasantville man shot a woman before he died by suicide, authorities said. Pleasantville police responded to a domestic violence report at a home on South Third Street at around 4:05 a.m. on Sunday, June 23, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. Bicyclist, 14, Dies Days After Route 38 Crash, State Police Say
A 14-year-old bicyclist hospitalized after being struck by an SUV in Burlington County a week ago died two days later, authorities said. The teenager was hit on the westbound side of Route 38 at about 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 14 as he tried to cross the highway near milepost 19.1 in Southampton, New Jersey State Police said. A 57-year-old woman was killed and three others were hurt in a crash in Trenton, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 8 near the intersection of East State and South Broad streets, according to Trenton police. The victim's name had not been released.
