Man Tried Abducting Young Girl In South Jersey, State Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect

The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an attempted abduction of a young girl.

According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday, Jan. 12 at approximately 11:30 a.m. outside a home near the intersection of State Highway 47 and Main Street in Maurice River Township in Cumberland County. An unknown male suspect tried to abduct a young girl, authorities said.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, between 30 and 40 years old, with light stubbly facial hair and a two-inch jagged scar on his left jawline. He was last seen wearing a black beanie-style hat, an oversized black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, black socks, and black shoes.

State Police have urged anyone with information about this incident or who may recognize the suspect to come forward. Tips can be provided by contacting Troop “A” Port Norris Station at 856-785-0036.

Anonymous tips are welcome, and police emphasized the importance of community cooperation in ensuring public safety.

Authorities are reminding residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
