Man Stole Security Officer's Loaded Firearm From Vehicle: Newark PD
A man is at large after he snatched a firearm from a security officer's vehicle in Newark on Friday, July 19, authorities said.
At 11:50 a.m., the suspect broke into the car, parked at Franklin Street and Federal Square and took his loaded off-duty weapon, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.
The suspect, a man with a thin build, also took a tan-colored holster and a black army pattern multi camo shoulder bag, Fragé said. He wore a black shirt and gray shorts and fled the scene on a bicycle heading eastbound on Franklin Street, then onto Mulberry Street, Fragé said.

At 8:29 a.m., a man entered Dollar General at 420 Springfield Avenue through the right side rear entrance and demanded cash from the cashier, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The suspect gestured he had a handgun and assaulted the employee on her left side, Fragé said.

On Sunday, June 16, at 4:57 a.m., police spotted a teen breaking into an Audi Q5 and Jeep Wrangler, parked at a residence on the 600 block of 4th Street, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said. A man was robbed at gunpoint of $1,600 and assaulted in Newark on the early morning of Saturday, June 6, authorities said.

A 22-year-old sex offender was found to have violated Megan's Law statutes after police caught him groping a woman on a Bayonne street, authorities said.
Tariq Baker, of Bayonne, approached the female victim around 3:05 p.m. Monday, July 8 and grabbed her buttocks on East 50th Street, Bayonne Police Detective Sgt. William Dundas said.
