A Linden police officer was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash while participating in a funeral procession Monday morning, Sept. 21, authorities said. Shortly before 11 a.m., the officer was traveling south on Roselle Street on a marked police motorcycle when he collided with a Ford van entering a private driveway, Linden Police Capt. Christopher Guenther said. The officer was taken to University Hospital in Newark with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Guenther said. The van driver was not injured.
