Melissa Barrett and Christopher Turner were arrested following multiple acts of lewdness that occurred between February 2024 and August 2024, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. On Sunday, Feb. 24, at 8:30 a.m., two juveniles reported they observed a man and woman having sex in public on the 200 block of Ferry Street, Fragé said. Woman Robbed, Dragged Into Street: Newark PD A woman was robbed of her purse and dragged int the street in Newark on the morning of Sunday, July 14, authorities said. At 6:10 a.m., a woman was walking on Ferry Street near Union Street when she was approached by a Black man who snatched her purse, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. While in the process of removing her purse, the woman was dragged into the street by the suspect where she fell and was injured, Fragé said. At 3:30 a.m., police found the unresponsive man suffering from stab wounds at Magazine and Ferry Street in the Ironbound section of the city, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said.
