A grand jury indicted 29-year-old Elizabeth Mascarelli of Seaside Heights on Thursday, Oct. 24 for murder, conspiracy to commit murder, hindering apprehension, desecration of human remains, and eight weapons charges, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release.

A Brick Township man admitted to recording children performing sexual acts for him in video chats, authorities said.
Christopher Budelman, 37, pleaded guilty on Friday, Oct. 4 to two counts of sexual assault, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Prosecutors said they're seeking seven years in state prison for Budelman, along with registering as a sex offender, a ban from contacting the victims, and lifetime parole supervision.

Two Brick Township women who called themselves the "Crazy Rescue Ladies" will spend nearly a year in jail after admitting to having more than 170 pets in deplorable conditions, authorities said.
Michele Nycz, 60, and Aimee Lonczak, 51, were sentenced on Friday, Aug. 16 to 364 days in Ocean County Jail, county prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release. The women pleaded guilty on Monday, June 24 to two counts of animal cruelty, and Lonczak also entered a guilty plea for child neglect.

Four Ocean County men were accused of using a 3D printer to sell ghost guns to an FBI informant, authorities said.
The men facing charges in the case are James Hyres, 38, of Toms River; Dennis McMickle, 35, of Brick Township; James Opalenik, 51, of Ocean Gate; and Edward Trost III, 36, of Toms River. New Jersey's U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger announced the charges in a news release on Monday, July 29.
