Man Killed While Walking Across Route 9 In Central Jersey, Prosecutors Say A man was hit by a vehicle and killed while crossing a busy road in Freehold Township, authorities said. The crash happened at around 8:56 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, a spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said. The wreck was at the intersection of Route 9 North and East Freehold Road. A 56-year-old man died in the crash. The Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team and the Freehold Township Police Department were assisting in the investigation. Johnathan Ruck II was charged with several burglary and theft offenses, the Aberdeen Township Police Department said in a news release on Monday, Aug. 12.  Investigators said Ruck broke into several businesses and vehicles on Route 35 late at night on Wednesday, Aug. 7, and early on Thursday, Aug. 8. Person Injured When Vehicle Crashes Into Utility Pole In South Jersey: Police A person was injured when a vehicle crashed into a utility pole and overturned in South Jersey, authorities said. The vehicle struck a utility pole in front of Bagel King on West County Line Road in Jackson Township on Tuesday, July 30, police Chief Matthew Kunz said. A Facebook user posted a picture of the damage from the crash at around 7:25 a.m. The picture showed a dark-colored vehicle on its side. The utility pole was damaged and wires were hanging low over the crash site. One person in the vehicle suffered minor injuries, Chief Kunz said.

Robert Poelstra, 74, was facing two third-degree charges including theft by deception, the Hazlet Police Department said in a news release on Thursday, July 11. Woman Charged With DWI After NJ Transit Train Hits Empty Vehicle In Central Jersey A Long Branch woman was accused of driving while intoxicated after an empty vehicle was struck by a New Jersey Transit train, authorities said. North Jersey Coast Line train No. 4384 hit an unoccupied vehicle in Long Branch at around 8:59 p.m. on Monday, June 3, an NJ Transit spokesperson said. The vehicle was struck at the Cedar Avenue crossing between the Long Branch and Elberon stations.
