A vehicle crashed and overturned on the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County, officials said. The crash happened in the parkway's southbound express lanes at around 11:08 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, the state Department of Transportation said. An NJDOT camera showed a blue SUV on its driver's side in the parkway's median. State troopers and firefighters responded to the scene. $50K Richer: Ocean Township Supermarket Sells Winning Powerball Ticket
A Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was purchased at a Monmouth County supermarket, officials said. The winner was sold at the Wegmans on Route 35 in Ocean Township, the New Jersey Lottery said in a news release on Monday, Sept. 23. The ticket matched four numbers and the Powerball in the drawing on Saturday, Sept. 21. The winning numbers were 17, 19, 21, 37, and 45. The Powerball was 14. Authorities have identified a Leesburg man whose body was discovered on a conveyor belt at a Monmouth County recycling facility. Nicholas Holsten, 35, was found dead at the Republic Services recycling plant in Farmingdale on Wednesday, Sept. 4, a state police spokesperson said on Monday, Sept. 23. Two drivers were injured Saturday morning, Sept. 21, when one, who had been suffering a medical emergency, cut across a Monmouth County roadway and struck another vehicle and an Italian grocer, police said. Freehold Raceway, the oldest racetrack in the U.S., will close after two centuries of competitions and Monmouth County history, officials said. A taxi driver from Eatontown was found shot dead outside a Hazlet motel, authorities said. Anthony Hill, 42, was found dead on Saturday, Sept. 14, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
