First Snow Cancels Many Yorktown Events

YORKTOWN, N.Y.- Snow covered Yorktown Saturday, and as the snow cover grew, so did the list of event cancellations.

The John C. Hart Library is closed all day Saturday. The practice ACT/SAT held at the library has been postponed, a new date has yet to be announced.

Yorktown Central School District and all of its buildings are also closed, but plans to reopen on Sunday. 

Club Fit's Open House and Camp Bash have been cancelled, and have been moved to next Saturday, Jan. 28. 

As of 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Lakeland's performance of the Sound of Music at 7:30 p.m. is still on. The Driver's Ed orientation scheduled for Saturday has been postponed to next Saturday, Jan. 28 at 11:30 a.m. in the Lakeland High School cafeteria. The ski trip to Belleayre Mountain has been cancelled.

Wrestling at the Nanuet Tournament has been postponed to Sunday, Jan 22. The game start time is 9 a.m. and the bus leaves at 6:45 a.m. from Walter Panas High School. The Varsity Cheerleading Competition at Harrison has also been postponed to Sunday, Jan. 22. The competition starts at 2:30 p.m. and the bus leaves at 11:30 a.m. 

The Young Yorktown Advocates United fundraiser at the Winery has been postponed for next Saturday, Jan. 28.
