An FDNY fire dog named for a former Fire Marshal from the Hudson Valley who made the “supreme sacrifice,” on Sept. 11, 2001, is making a name for himself. FDNY K9 Bucca - named after Tuckahoe resident Ronald P. Bucca, a 23-year veteran of the FDNY - and his handler, Fire Marshal Joseph DiGiacomo, were awarded the honor of Top Dog in the category of Accelerant Detection at last week’s United States Police Canine Association’s 2019 National Detector Dog Trials in Albany. State Trooper Dies Of 9/11 Related Illness
A New York State Police trooper has passed away from an illness he suffered while aiding in search and recovery efforts following the Sept. 11, 2011 terrorist attack. New York State Police Superintendent George Beach II announced the death of Trooper Michael Anson on Tuesday, stating that he passed away from an illness stemming from his assignment at the World Trade Center site following the attack.
