Targeted 4-Hour Detail Results In 23 Traffic Stops At Busy Mahopac Shopping Center Following complaints from residents and business owners, a targeted police detail at a busy Hudson Valley shopping center resulted in 23 traffic summonses over only four hours.  The enforcement campaign was conducted in Putnam County on Friday evening, May 17 at the Mahopac Village Center shopping center. According to Carmel Police, the detail was undertaken following complaints from residents and business owners concerning large gatherings of loitering vehicles in the parking lot and erratic driving.  The campaign was the second such effort to be conducted at the shopping center…

Traffic Stop Leads To Alleged 'Runner' Of Untaxed Cigarettes From Fairfield County To New York A traffic stop for a seatbelt violation led to the arrest of an alleged "runner" for a supplier for bodegas and variety stores from Fairfield County to New York who was possessing illegal cigarettes and gambling records, police said.  The stop took place around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, when Stamford Police Officer Christopher Felman-Merced was enforcing seat belt violations in the area of Canal/Jefferson streets when he noticed a driver, later identified as Luis Miguel Pena-Ramos, 32, driving without his seatbelt, said Stamford Police Capt. Diedrich Hohn.  During the stop, the officer …

Route 52 Traffic Stop Results In Drug Charges For Man, 40 A 49-year-old man is facing drug charges after being busted by a Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy during a traffic stop for not wearing a seatbelt. While on patrol on Route 52 in Carmel, Deputy Sheriff Christopher Irwin spotted a black pickup truck being driven by Dover, Vt. resident Kevin Dancy, who was not wearing his seatbelt. During the subsequent traffic stop, Irwin reported that Dancy was in possession of a quantity of marijuana and Clonazepam, a controlled substance used to treat seizures, panic disorders and anxiety.
