Steven Joseph Harrison, PhD, MSMI, CMI, FAMI A distinguished leader with many awards and honors for his work as a medical illustrator and educator, Steve Harrison died on January 13, 12 days before his 76th birthday. Born on January 25, 1947, in White Plains, the only son of Joseph Harrison and the former Etta Belle Buckaloo, Steve grew up in Pleasantville and attended Pleasantville High School, where his art teacher, Walter Hahn, encouraged him to pursue a career in medical illustration. Joseph Troy of Somers died on Thursday, Nov. 3 at the age of 83, according to his obituary. The identities of the two adults and two children involved in an apparent triple murder-suicide in Northern Westchester have been released. Police were called to perform a welfare check at 1:50 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 5 by the Pleasantville Union Free School District when two of those found dead, students in the district, did not show up for school. Four people were found dead in a home in Northern Westchester on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 5. Police were called to perform a welfare check at 1:50 p.m. by the Pleasantville Union Free School District when two of those found dead, students in the district, did not show up for school. Swastika Found At High School In Northern Westchester
A swastika was found drawn inside a high school in Westchester. Pleasantville High School Principal Joseph Palumbo sent a notice to parents on Thursday, Oct. 10 after a student reported that he found a swastika drawn in pencil on a door in a bathroom. A “promposal” gone wrong has led to an investigation and increase in anti-bias education for students in Pleasantville. School officials in Pleasantville are investigating an “inappropriate and unacceptable” promposal that involved students and prompted a letter to the community from High School Principal Joseph Palumbo. Science Classroom Smell Forces Evacuation At Pleasantville High School
Pleasantville High School was evacuated out of precaution on Friday morning due to an unusual smell in one of the science labs. School officials notified parents of the evacuation at approximately 9:30 a.m., transporting them temporarily to the Pleasantville Middle School. Emergency crews were called to the school and gave the “all clear” less than an hour later, allowing the students to return to the building without further incident.

Some of Westchester County’s best and brightest students were among those chosen as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, which celebrates academic achievement in high school students.
