A man who threatened to kill a police officer and then took police on a chase also called 911 to tell them he intended to jump off the Newburgh/Beacon Bridge. William A. Pascal, 45, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Saturday, June 8, following a sequence of events that ended at the Newburgh/Beacon Bridge, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police, Capt. Just months after the uproar over the new Tappan Zee Bridge being given the official name of the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, residents are up in arms again over the newly enacted name of the Bear Mountain Bridge. The new name, "The Purple Heart Veterans Memorial Bridge," was selected, not by Gov.
