Voluntary Boat Inspections Set For These Putnam County Sites Be ready for the summer and fun on the water by having a vessel inspection performed by police officers and deputy sheriffs assigned to the Marine Unit on Lake Mahopac. The inspections will also be done by Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies in Putnam Valley and Cold Spring. In an attempt to educate the community on safe boating, officers will advise boaters of required safety equipment and boating regulations in New York State.
