Organs Of 17-Year-Old Killed In Triple-Fatal NY Crash Will Help 3 Others Live
Bella Trezza’s final act of generosity will help others live. Just days after the 17-year-old high school senior and aspiring nurse from Babylon was taken off life support following a car crash that killed two others, doctors removed her organs to help three strangers in need. An honor walk was held at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, before Trezza’s kidneys and liver were recovered, LiveOnNY confirmed to Daily Voice. I Owe The Last 25 Years To My Organ Donors
All eyes were on me. Blue eyes. Brown eyes. Then, the kind, warm eyes of the school nurse, Mrs. M, who sat next to me and whispered, “You have nothing to worry about. You’ll do great.” It was 1995, and I was about to turn 13 years old. All I wanted was to belong and be just like everyone else, but all I knew was that I was different for two reasons: I was Asian and I was sick. For reasons I couldn’t remember, I had agreed to talk to my classmates about my illness and now I was sitting at the very center of my health class with twenty kids sitting around me waiting. They were all waiting to …

New York Woman Celebrates Second Chance At Life

At age 32 Westchester resident Janet Ocasio was a mother to three children and a successful hospital executive who started feeling run down. Her doctor told it was likely just stress and sent her home. But things didn’t improve and soon Janet was unable to walk a block or play with her children without getting winded and needing a break. She returned to the doctor where she learned the devastating news that her liver was failing. She was told she only had 4-6 years to live. “I was terrified to leave my children,” she said. “So I began doing research and went to see another doctor who sent m…

Organ Recipient Celebrates Second Chance At Life
At 53 years old, Donna DiCosta has a lot to be thankful for: a successful nursing career and two healthy children. But the thing she is most thankful for is having a second chance at life, thanks to the power of organ donation. “Every day that I am alive is because my organ donor chose to give the gift of life,” DiCosta said. “What she has done for me is truly remarkable.” At age three, DiCosta was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. She managed to live normally for most of her life, but once she had her children her lungs began to fail. She was constantly having a hard time breathing and makin…
