Man Who Tried To Jump From Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge Arrested For Murder, Police Say A Hudson Valley man who had attempted to jump from a bridge has been arrested for allegedly killing a woman whose body was found in a wooded area. Johnny Amaro, age 49, of the town of Ulster, was arrested and charged with felony murder around 11:45 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1.  According to Chief Kyle Berardi, of the Ulster Police Department, on Thursday around 8:20 a.m., officers were notified of a dead woman in a wooded area off the Eastern Parkway in the town of Ulster. Hudson Valley Man Sentenced For Having Sex With 8-Year-Old A Hudson Valley man has been sentenced for sexually assaulting a child. Ulster County resident Carlos Butz-Paau, age 24, of Kingston, was sentenced to seven years in state prison and 10 years post-release supervision on Wednesday, Aug. 3 on the charge of first-degree sexual assault. From late December 2021 through March 21, Butz-Paau began playing inappropriately with a victim under the age of 8, said the Ulster County District Attorney's Office. Hudson Valley Man Sentenced For Death Of 6-Month-Old Daughter Found In Bathtub A 26-year-old Hudson Valley man has been sentenced to prison in connection with the death of his 6-month-old baby left alone in a bathtub. Ulster County resident Ashante Inniss, age 28, of Kingston, was sentenced to one to three years after pleading guilty to criminally negligent homicide and criminal contempt, said the Ulster County District Attorney's Office. During the proceeding, Inniss admitted his 6-month-old daughter unattended in a bathtub with running water for approximately 25 minutes on April 18, 2020, the DA's Office said. Alert Issued For Missing Hudson Valley 13-Year-Old Police in the Hudson Valley are asking the public for help locating a teen who has been missing for more than two days. Ulster County resident Vaun Brown, age 13, of Kingston, was last seen leaving his home on Saturday, Feb. 12. According to the Kingston Police Department, Brown is 5-foot-4, weighing approximately 165 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and a red and white hoodie when he was last seen. Alert Issued For Man Who's Gone Missing In Hudson Valley Police are asking the public for information after a 61-year-old man has gone missing in the Hudson Valley. Andrew Higgins was last seen in Ulster County on Thursday, Sept. 2, according to the Kingston Police Department. Higgins was seen that day at an unknown time in the City of Kingston. Suny-new Paltz Student Falls To Her Death While Hiking A SUNY New Platz student has died after falling 150 feet while hiking near the caves in Hasbrouck Park. Katherine Vollmer, 20, of Rochester, was discovered around 9:50 p.m., Monday, Nov. 18, after the Kingston Police received a call of a female that had fallen while hiking, said the Kingston Police Department. Officers responded to the area and were able to locate a group of SUNY New Paltz students that had been hiking in the area. The New York State Department of Public Safety issued an alert regarding Keener Mendez-Esteban, 15, who was last seen on Oct. 28 last year in Kingston, wearing black pants and a black coat. Officials said that Mendez-Esteban is fluent in Spanish and may travel to Columbia County or out of state to North Carolina or California.
