Peekskill Police Chief To Retire, Take New Position Peekskill Police Chief Eric Johansen plans to retire from the department on March 3 in order to take another position nearby. Johansen, who has been with the department for 24 years, five of those as chief, said Wednesday he couldn't name the position he is taking, but did say it was bittersweet to leave his hometown force.
