Don't Be Alarmed: Blank Ammunition To Be Used During Drills At School In Westchester
A police department in Westchester is planning on conducting live tactical drills involving the use of blank ammunition at a high school over several days, which may result in the sound of gunshots coming from the building.
The drills, which will be conducted by the City of Rye Police Department, will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 8, Wednesday, Aug. 9, and Thursday, Aug. 10 at the Rye High School/Middle School building at 3 Parsons St., the department announced.
The drills will all be held between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on all three days.

In the City of Rye, an Elm Street business was victimized by a burglar shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 28, with a suspect making off with a stolen laptop that was located in the office.

County Executive George Latimer's wife owes nearly $42,000 in county, city and school taxes on the estate, according to public records.
Robin Latimer's mother, Alice Phelps, resided at 60 Roosevelt Ave. in Rye, a home that Latimer's wife inherited after her death.
In these public records, Robin Phelps Latimer is listed as owner of the property -- and owes at least $35,531 in Rye City School District taxes for six years dating back to 2012; 6,053 in city taxes plus some penalties for three years; and $5,814 in county taxes for two years.
