Beloved Brewster Firefighter Dies After Over 25 Years Of Service A Hudson Valley fire department is mourning the loss of one of its active members who served his community for more than a quarter of a century.  The death of Robert "Link" Linkenhoker was announced by Putnam County's Brewster Fire Department on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Crash Temporarily Closes Road In Brewster, Causes Injury A vehicle was left on its side following a crash in the Hudson Valley that caused an hour-long road closure.  The crash happened in Putnam County on Friday afternoon, Oct. 4, when vehicles collided on Starr Ridge Road near Danbury Road (Route 202) in Brewster, according to the Brewster Fire Department.  One driver suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.  According to the department, Starr Ridge Road was closed for around an hour as the crash site was cleared. The cause was not detailed.

Former Chief Of Brewster Fire Department Dies A fire department in the Hudson Valley has announced the death of one of its former chiefs.  In a social media post on Sunday, Feb. 4, the Brewster Fire Department in Putnam County announced the death of former Chief and Commissioner Thomas Palmer.  Palmer led the department from 1996 to 1998, the department said.  More information about Palmer's death, including funeral arrangements, has not yet been announced.  This is a developing story.
