Mahopac Brush Fire Sandwiched On Tree Line Threatens Home Mahopac firefighters spent several hours battling a fire located behind a home on Shinaya Court located near a heavily wooded tree line. The call for the fire came in around 3 p.m. Wednesday with the department responding within minutes, Chief Bill Nikisher was quick to call for reinforcements. Mahopac firefighters tried to sandwich the fire between the trucks but the tree line proved too dense and a mutual aid call was put out for Battalion 16 and Mahopac Falls to roll out with a brush truck and tanker.
