YORKTOWN, N.Y. The four top teams in the Yorktown Softball Weekend League complete the regular season this week and will begin the championship playoffs beginning Tuesday (August 2). Benchwarmers lead the league with a 13-1 record, followed by Shell 7/11 with a record of 9-4 to top the league standings. Murphys finished third at 7-5 and AJs Bar & Grill took the last playoff spot with a 4-8 record. Top seed Benchwarmers will face fourth-seeded AJs Bar & Grill in a 7:50 p.m. start at the Route 202 Field # 2, followed by an opening-round game between No. 3 Murphys and No. 2 Shell 7/11 at 9:15 p.m. The winners of the first-round games will meet in a best of three playoff series for the title with the first two games set for August 4 and August 8.
