Lakeland Students to Partake in Global Competition

SHRUB OAK, N.Y. – Thinking "Outside the Crayon Box" has secured Walter Panas High School's Destination Imagination team a slot in the Destination Imagination Global Tournament to be held in May.

The team, named "Outside the Crayon Box," competed in the New York state tournament on March 24 in Endicott, N.Y. alongside a fellow team from Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, called "Solar Seven."

Seven teams took part in the Eastern Regional competition, and the top two teams in each of the six challenges moved on to the state tournament.

Teams from the Lakeland Central School District included two from Lincoln-Titus Elementary School, two from Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, two from Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School and one from Walter Panas High School.

"Outside the Crayon Box" will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., in May for the global competition.
