Lakeland Board Salutes Field Hockey Champions

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- The Lakeland High School Field Hockey team who won the state championship for the third consecutive year last month were recognized at Lakeland's Board of Education meeting. The team has now won six state titles including 1990, 2003, 2006, 2009, and  2010.The team members include: Kate Weldon (10), Stephanie Scala (10), Abby Murdock (11), Kim Monteferante (10), Allie Malzo (11), Mairead Hourihan (11), Marissa DiSisto (11), Felicia Costanzo (10), Kristen Conroy (11), Gab Celentano (10), Dana Bozek (8), Gianna Bensaia (11), Elizabeth Bell (11), Rebecca Bard (11), Kara Massotti (12), Erin Maurno (12), Katie Browne (12), Co-Captain Krista Servedio (12), Co-Captain Shannon Scavelli (12), Co-Captain Allie O'Mara (12), and Co-Captain Emma Bozek (12). The team is coached by Sharon Sarsen and Assistant Coaches Bari Martinelli and Jenna Wenk.Team members received a number of individual honors including: All-State: Gianna Bensaia, Emma Bozek, Shannon Scavelli.Section One, Conference I: All-Section: Rebecca Bard, Gianna Bensaia, Emma Bozek, Allie O'Mara, Shannon Scavelli, Krista Servedio and Honorable Mention: Kristen Conroy.Con Edison Sports Award: Emma Bozek and Shannon Scavelli All Region: Shannon Scavelli, Emma Bozek, and Gianna Bensaia Journal News Player of the Year: Emma Bozek. To read more about the girls' banner season, click here
