Lakeland Artwork on Display at JV Mall

JEFFERSON VALLEY, N.Y. - Lakeland Week of the Arts is being celebrated at Jefferson Valley Mall with an exhibition that runs through Sunday.

The art show features student artwork from Lakeland and Walter Panas high schools and ranges from photography and oil painting to watercolor and drawing.

"The show gives the community an opportunity to view the magnificent work that our students create in their art classes," said Superintendent of Schools George Stone. "It communicates the outstanding talent of both the students and the art department staff."

Art from students in the district has been displayed at the mall for more than 25 years. An opening ceremony for the week-long exhibit was held Monday with several students demonstrating their talents.

In addition, a string quartet of seniors from Lakeland High performed, as did other current and former student singers and musicians.
