According to the Post, Konstantin Sidorkov, an executive at Vkontatke, Russia's Facebook, e-mailed Scavino, who now serves as Assistant to the President and Director of Social Media and Donald Trump, Jr. to help promote Trump's campaign to appeal to Russian Americans and Russians.
Scavino was interested in learning more about the idea, but the Post said it is unclear if there was any follow-up. Scavino and The White House declined to comment to the Post.
Sidorkov told the Post it was absurd to think a page on Vkontatke could have any influence on the election and he received no response from the Trump campaign. The contact was brokered by Rob Goldstone, a British music producer who had previously asked Trump, Jr. to meet with a Russian lawyer who said he had information on Hillary Clinton, according to the Post.
“Please feel free to send me whatever you have,” Scavino emailed Goldstone.“Thank you so much for looking out for Mr. Trump and his presidential campaign.”
