The summons was issued to Bora Lajqi after an officer was dispatched to Turkey Mountain Park to investigate the reported dog bite around 9:51 a.m., according to officials.
Along with the alleged attack, it was reported that two dogs were running at-large and being aggressive, police report.
The incident was not the first of its kind: police had been searching the park and surrounding neighborhoods for weeks looking for two dogs that acted in a similar matter, according to officials.
While officers were evacuating the park, they were confronted by the two dogs, one of whom charged the officers and citizens, police report.
A taser was used to prevent the animal from biting anyone, which resulted in the dogs running off, according to officials.
Police dispatchers began contacting local animal hospitals in case the dog was injured by the taser and medical attention was sought for it, police report.
Representatives of one local animal hospital believed the facility had clients who owned dogs matching the description; further investigation confirmed they were the dogs in question, according to officials.
An officer went to Lajqi’s residence and issued her a summons for allowing the animals to run at-large, police report.
She is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court to answer the charge on Tuesday, Sept. 13, according to officials.
