Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, police stopped 28-year-old Ned Brankovic for a traffic stop when he made an illegal left turn from East Main Street onto Route 6.
According to police, during the subsequent investigation, patrol officers determined that Brankovic’s privilege to operate a motor vehicle had been suspended 11 times, that he had previously been busted on drug charges and failed to pay fines or answer a summons. The check also revealed an open warrant in Mount Vernon for bail jumping and a second warrant from the New York City Police Department for an undisclosed incident.
Brankovic was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said. He was processed and released on his own recognizance to the Mount Vernon Police Department on the bail jumping warrant. He is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, March 23.
