Officers from the Yorktown Police Department were dispatched Commerce Street shortly before 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday night, where there was a report of a motor vehicle crash, where a driver attempted to flee the scene.
A police investigation into the crash determined that Yorktown Heights resident Lisa Fitzpatrick, 55, was driving while intoxicated when she was involved in the crash, and she attempted to leave the scene before being stopped by a witness “a short distance away,” police said.
During the subsequent stop, police said that Fitzpatrick refused to submit to a preliminary breathalyzer and was arrested at the scene.
Fitzpatrick was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content greater than .18 percent and leaving the scene of a personal auto accident, all misdemeanors.
She was also cited for refusing to submit to a preliminary breathalyzer and failure to stop at a stop sign.
Following arraignment, Fitzpatrick was released on her own recognizance to a sober third party. She is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on March 13 to answer the charges.
