Yorktown Man Charged With Contempt For Violating Order Of Protection

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested an 84-year-old resident of the town on a criminal contempt charge.

An officer was dispatched to a parking lot on Lee Road to investigate a report of a violation of a temporary order of protection on Thursday, May 26, at approximately 5 p.m., officials report.

Following an investigation at the scene, it was alleged that the suspect, identified as Alexander Taranko, personally communicated with a protected party in violation of a duly served order of protection issued by the Westchester County Family Court, according to police.

Taranko was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to Police Headquarters for processing, officials report.

He has been charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor, according to police.

After processing, Taranko was released on his own recognizance, police report.

He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, June 23, according to officials.
