Tyana A. Mason, 20, of Waterbury, was originally arrested in March by police who had been called to the Sears store at the Jefferson Valley Mall to investigate a possible fraud in progress.
Police said that Mason had tried to lease a large, flat screen television set using the ID of someone from Alabama.
That person, as it turns out, said he was unaware that his ID was being used.
Mason was initially charged with drug possession for having marijuana on her, police said.
However, when she turned up in Yorktown Justice Court last week to answer that charge, she was taken in custody on the ID theft charge, police said.
She was held on $10,000 bail and sent to Westchester County Jail.
Mason is to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday.
