At approximately 2:19 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, police were dispatched to Crompond Road, where there were reports of a one-vehicle crash involving a motorist that had struck a telephone pole.
According to police, upon arrival, officers determined that the motorist, later identified as Yorktown resident Gabrielle Gjelaj, was allegedly driving while intoxicated at the time she struck the pole.
Gjelaj was arrested at the scene and charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent, both misdemeanors. She was processed at Yorktown Police Headquarters and released on her own recognizance. She is due back in Yorktown Justice Court next month.
