Shrub Oak Teen Driver Charged With Suspended Registration

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS -- Yorktown police have charged an 18-year-old Shrub Oak resident for allegedly operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.

The arrest came about after police received a call from a motorist reporting a property damage auto accident on Barger Street on Monday at about 12:04 p.m, according to officials.

An investigation by an officer at the scene revealed that one of the operators involved in the accident, identified as the teen from Shrub Oak, allegedly operated a 2003 Jaguar southbound on Barger Street while the vehicle’s registration was suspended for insurance lapse, police report.

The suspect, whose name is being withheld due to her eligibility for youthful offender status, was arrested at the scene, according to officials.

She has been charged with suspended registration, an unclassified misdemeanor, and uninsured motor vehicle, a traffic violation, police report.

The teen was issued a traffic summons in reference to the charges, according to officials. 

Following processing, she was released at the scene and directed to answer the allegations in Yorktown Court on Thursday, July 14, police report.
