WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Six pre-school children and one adult were transported to Hudson Valley Hospital early Friday following a multi-vehicle crash on Crompond Road involving a school bus.
According to Trooper Melissa McMorris with the New York State Police, the students were not injured but were taken to the hospital for an evaluation only because their parents were not on scene, as required by law.
The crash was caused when a dump truck rear-ended a car. The car then struck the rear of the school bus, McMorris said.
The driver of the car suffered a minor injury, she said.
State police did not know what school the children attended.
New York State Police, along with firefighters and EMS from Yorktown, Peekskill and Mohegan Lakes, all responded to the crash.
