YORKTOWN, N.Y. A 24-year-old Elmsford man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after he was accused of resisting arrest and damaging a police cruiser early Tuesday morning, Yorktown police said.
Police responded to a Yorktown home around 3:22 a.m. on a reported domestic violence incident. Police accused Jeremiah Herring of throwing his girlfriend to the ground and restraining her during an argument, the report said. Herring also reportedly broke a mirror during the incident.
Officers attempted the take Herring into custody and he resisted, police said. While Herring was secured in the back of the cruiser, police said he kicked the rear window and caused about $250 in damage.
Herring was charged with felony criminal mischief in the fourth degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. He was also charged with harassment in the second degree, a violation.
Herring was processed and arraigned at Yorktown Justice Court and transferred to Westchester County Jail after failing to post a $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 18.
