Jury: Ex-Cop Killed Wife, Dumped Body In Yorktown

BRONX, N.Y. – Former NYPD officer Eddy Coello was convicted Monday in the murder of Tina Adovasio, whose body was discovered in March 2011 near the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown.

Coello, 41, was convicted on second-degree murder charges of killing Adovasio in their Bronx apartment before dumping her body in Yorktown Heights, according to the New York Post.

Her body was discovered by a teenager riding an ATV in a wooded area near the Taconic. The Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office ruled her death homicide by strangulation.

The Bronx jury took just three hours to deliberate, the paper said. Coello faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 25 years to life when he’s sentenced on Nov. 1.
