Snyder served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the 100th Infantry, where he played in the band.
He was a graduate of The Juilliard School of Music and was a brass teacher and world-renowned trombone player.
Snyder is survived by his son, Martin Snyder; his daughter, Nancy Snyder; his son, David and his wife, Caroline Snyder; and his daughter, Susan and her husband, Frank Snyder Maher. He also is survived by his sister, Anne Bornstei;n and his grandchildren, Rachel, Hannah and Leah Snyder and Frank Maher.
Snyder was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite (McArdle) Snyder; his daughter, Maureen Snyder; his sister, Shirley Neimark; his brother, Irving Snyder; and his parents, Charles and Bertha Snyder.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 W. Stevens Ave., Hawthorne.
Interment to follow at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
