Charles Dunn, 88, Yorktown Heights WWII Veteran

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – Charles F. Dunn of Yorktown Heights died Sunday, Oct. 14. He was 88.

Born April 2, 1924, in New York City, he was the son of Charles F. Dunn Sr. and Margaret Williams. On July 18, 1943, Dunn married his childhood sweetheart, Kathleen Nolan.

He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II and saw action in the Pacific Theater in the Marshall Islands. When the war ended, he returned home to Kathleen and settled in Peekskill. Dunn was employed by the Olivetti Corp. for 38 years. His passion in life was his family.

Dunn is survived by his wife of 69 years, Kathleen; two sons, Charles and Kevin; four grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and five sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak. Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights handled arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Disabled American Veterans.
