YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The Yorktown Consolidated Water District will be flushing fire hydrants in parts of sections three and seven from Monday through Nov. 22.
Flushing will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. If you do not know what section you are in, you can look up your street here.
Please be advised that flushing may cause some discoloration of water. This does not represent a health hazard. However, customers are cautioned to determine if the water is clear before washing clothes (or any other processing) as staining may occur. If you experience discolored water, run the cold water in all your faucets for approximately five to 10 minutes.
The water district regrets any temporary inconvenience you may experience however, it says, the flushing program is necessary to maintain a good water supply for both firefighting and domestic consumption.
