Yorktown Man Charged with Two Forged Prescriptions

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- A Yorktown man has been arrested for two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony.

Ylli Berishaj, 27, was arrested in Carmel, N.Y. after he was allegedly found to be in possession of a forget prescription. Police claimed Berishaj also possessed a forged prescription in Yorktown. A police investigation found he possessed a forged prescription at a pharmacy in Yorktown twice—once on April 9 and again on May 4.

Berishaj voluntarily appeared at the Yorktown Police station and was released on his own recognizance and due to appear in Yorktown Court on September 6 at 6 p.m.

Other news from the Yorktown Police Department:

-       Denell Todd, 49, has been arrested for endangering the welfare of a child after a police investigation determined he had pulled an 11-year-old child off a slide in Mohegan Lake. Todd allegedly pulled the child off the slide in the park, causing him to slam to the ground on his back. He was arrested and remanded to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. He is due back in Yorktown Court on July 26 at 6 p.m.

-       Ismael Martinez, 28, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after police responded to a report of a vehicle being operated erratically on Rt. 202. After a traffic stop, the driver identified as Martinez was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended New York driver’s license. He was arrested and released on his own recognizance to a family member. He is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on August 16 at 6 p.m.

-       A Peekskill woman was arrested for allegedly harassing a female Cortlandt Manor resident at the Jefferson Valley Mall, Taiana Searight, 19,  was charged with harassment in the second degree, a violation after she allegedly punched another woman in the face and pulled her hair on July 16. Searight was served with a criminal summons at her home in Peekskill and was released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Court on July 28 at 6 p.m.

-       A 19-year-old man from Putnam Valley was arrested for petty larceny, a misdemeanor after he allegedly removed merchandise worth $19.99 from a display and excited BJ’s Wholesale Club without paying. He was arrested and taken to Yorktown Police headquarters, where he was released on $500 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in court on August 16.
