Woman, 78, Charged With Switching Price Tags At Jefferson Valley Mall

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N. Y. -- A 78-year-old Connecticut woman is facing a shoplifting charge after police said she switched price tags on items to pay a lower price at Sears at the Jefferson Valley Mall, then left the store without paying for a bracelet.

Elvira Cicale of New Fairfield, Conn., is charged with misdemeanor petit larceny after being stopped by store security, police said. She's accused of switching the price tags on two shirts she bought in order to save herself about $50 total, police said.

She also did not pay for a bracelet valued at close to $100, police said. She's free on $100 bail and due back at 6 p.m. July 12 in Yorktown Court, police said.
