Two Mohegan Volunteer Firefighters Graduate

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Two volunteers from the Mohegan Lake Fire Dept. were among 128 firefighters from 41 departments in Westchester County to earn their graduation certificates last week at the county Department of Emergency Services facility in Valhalla.

Branden Innes and Ryan Piazza completed an 87-hour program over seven months in one of seven Firefighter I classes offered. They also completed a nine-hour firefighter survival course.

"Obviously it takes a great deal of special knowledge to be a firefighter," County Executive Rob Astorino said at the graduation ceremony. "More importantly, it takes a special kind of person: the kind of person who puts his neighbors and community first; the kind of person who puts himself or herself in harm's way to save life and property."
