Mt. Vernon Teen Charged in Assault of School Staff

YORKTOWN, N.Y.—A teen from Mt. Vernon was charged by Yorktown Police with two counts of juvenile delinquency after he allegedly burned a staff member at the BOCES Fox Meadow Campus.

Yorktown Police reported that on Dec. 23 at around 8 a.m. they responded to a call on the BOCES Fox Meadow campus revealing that the male allegedly burned a staff member with a cigarette lighter and attempted to burn another staff member while they were attempting to restrain him. Police reported that had the male been an adult he would have faced two felony charges—one of assault in the second degree, the other for attempted assault in the second degree.

The male was taken to police headquarters, and following processing he was issued a juvenile appearance ticket to appear in Dept. of Probation for counseling on Jan. 5 at 9 a.m.
